We are working with a variety of hair breeds (Dorper, Katahdin, St. Croix, and Barbado) in order to aquire the traits and qualities we want in our breeding ewes. We look for a thick, long, deep-bodied ewe that keeps her condition well. She must be a devoted mother that twins consistantly after her first lamb. She must have a healthy bag and give plenty of milk. We cull a ewe if she is treated for worms, pinkeye, or doesn't fit out flock requirements. We have found that there are as many variations within a breed as there are between breeds. For this reason we are currently in the process of compiling these choice traits from a variety of breeds. Our future generations will be the result of this process known as "Composite Breeding".
